Week 47/52: Two day work week!

It’s a two day work week this week. Don’t you just love this time of year?

It’s been twenty years?

Okay. The last time I developed film myself was circa 1992. Yes, that was twenty years ago. Way to long!!

Well, here is a shot from that roll from 1992. Inside the WXUT offices at the University of Toledo…

So, back in September, I was intrigued by this class. I then register for it and it turns out that I was the only participant scheduled – in which I received a very personal class. Yay! The course was yesterday at the Columbus Idea Foundry. And Wes Yoder was a very patient and engaging instructor.

It is a little more that 20 years, but I am back to developing black and white film! The class was a good refresher of how the process works from many moons ago. Now I just have to build that darkroom in the basement…

The following were shot at the Detroit Institute of Arts in early November 2012 from my Nikon N90S with the Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 using Ilford HP5 Plus 400 speed film…

And the following were shot in Dexter, MI in early August 2012 from the Diana Mini and Ilford SFX 200 speed film…

So it was a lot of fun to get back into film developing! (anyone have a enlarger you want to give to fatcatimages?) 🙂 It should not be another twenty years until my next batch of black and white development by myself. And, if you are into old school techniques be sure to check out the class!
