Josie and Birthday Cake!

Josie and Birthday Cake!, originally uploaded by spakulsk.

I am a big promoter of using film. I like the way film looks. I like the excitement on when a roll is developed and opening the envelope to see what was inside. So, I was shooting some of Josie’s birthday party on Sunday with my Nikon N90s 35mm film SLR. I found like 50 rolls of Fujifilm Fujicolor 100 film on eBay for $10. So, I was using up some of the cheap film. But the image here is spectacular! Josie is enjoying her birthday cake at her one year old birthday fest. I love the film look of this image. I love the fact that I captured her with cake in her mouth! Something that I didn’t do with my DSLR (a Nikon D90). So, there you go. My favorite image from the party was from a camera from the mid 1990’s. A single-lens reflex camera that I picked up for under $100. Hmm. Wow!

My first art show!

I’m so very excited to be chosen for my first ever art show. It’s at the Ypsilanti Senior Center’s 2012 Spring Craft Circus. The poster for the event is listed below. Hope to see you April 28th. It’s only less than four miles from the CatPad HQ! Oh… I have to get ready… more prints to develop and mat and mount… Wow!
