Nikon 85mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR Lens
Okay. I received my Nikon 85mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR Lens from Amazon today. I pre-ordered on the day it was released (January 6, 2012). Well, I had to take the thing out of the box and start playing around with it. I shot it wide open at f/1.8 to judge the bokeh results (on my Nikon D90). Okay, these shots were indoors at night. I shot a couple images of our cat Youppi. Oh Montréal Expos, how we miss you so…
I think the bokeh is quite nice. Considering this lens is a third the cost of the cream master (Nikon 85mm f/1.4G AF-S), I am pleased with the results so far. Since it is springtime in Michigan now, I will have to go out and do some daytime shots of the floral displays. That will be another judge of the bokeh quality. I also like the sharpness in Youppi’s features in these images. I’m glad I pre-ordered this glass…
Oh – and I did not do anything with Photoshop on these images (not even crop). Straight out of the camera!

Youppi looking at something to the side...

Youppi looks kind of sleepy

Youppi is really photogenic!
